Bob,

The Lollar horseshoe is a very faithful handmade pickup that will drop right into a RIC. Jason Lollar makes them personally, and you usually have to put a deposit down to get on the waiting list for when he makes them.

If you need a horeshoe for a restoration and replacement, it's practically impossible to get one from the factory, and the few you see for sale privately can be very expensive.

Basically, he's a craftsman producing very limited amounts of hand built quality pickups for the enthusiasts that can't get them anywhere else. You'll never see him mass producing them, and the high cost of them would make it prohibitive for anyone to build fakes around them.

According to JH posting on the RIC forum, more horseys will be available direct from the source soon. Something to do with the ending of the warranty period for basses originally equipped with them, apparently.

Well, almost faithful as the shoes themselves are a three piece laminate, unlike the original one piece shoes. But they do look good and from what I have heard from other forumites, they sound just as good.
