Ok, now it makes sense. Yes, of course I remember the Henly line, but it never made any scene to me. There was never any connection. It's true, you learn something new every day!
That's too funny, the part about the Dead Heads driving those Yuppie cars, looking like they crawled out of a ditch. I have visions of the Cheech & Chong movie "UP IN SMOKE" where Tommy Chong crawls up over the hill covered with grass and dirt to thumb a ride!
Boy, that would be culture shock to me. I was just a little brat who grew up in Levittown NY, and was in my teens in the later part of the 70's. Levittown's only claim to fame was that it was the next town over from Hicksville, where Billy Joel lived. As a matter of fact, he was on my paper route when I was a kid.
I discovered Alembics around 1977 when Greg Lake used one in a show, the sound haunted me for YEARS. I first fell in love with Rics when I discovered YES in 1976, ELP right after. Those are the only brand basses I own. I really should try to expand my horizons, but I guess I'm just getting old and hate change!
That whole California scene escapes me, though my brother just moved to San Diego. I was THINKING of planning a visit to him in August...around the time RIC is rumored to have some kind of party....yup....sounds like a great time to visit California, to visit my brother that is
