Everything except for the sound hole is identical to my May, 1964 365. I think these two guitars were prototypes for the New Style body.

One other difference- the heel on the violin f-hole is round, whereas John's is square.

Tony, does the f-hole 365 have a May sn# like John's guitar? We've talked about his 365 before, and speculate that it may have been started quite a bit before May due to some of the earlier features it has....IIRC the peghead on John's guitar is very 1963-ish(along with the square heeled neck), and has a non 'Made in USA' TRC as well.

Here's my 331, which is certainly odd and unusual:



The big differences from a normal 331 are: The TRC, the large dimmer knob, and the HB-1s.

I wanted to stick a John Kay circuit in it, but there isn't enough room.

Hmmmmm.....those early Bluebursts are certainly different from today's version, aren't they? Almost a light turquoise-burst.... Not bad, not bad at all! And I love the bound headstock on the 381....

I agree with you on the colors, Melissa, and I think bound headstocks look great on a lot of guitars, but especially so on the beautiful, gentle curves of the Rickenbacker guitar headstocks.

Bring 'em on, I say!!

Hmmmm.... I must be getting 'Americanized' - dropping the 'u' from 'colours'. My english teachers would be caning me if they knew!!

Just wait till you get over here and then see what happens to your spelling and general use of the English language!
