thanks for posting the picture Steve!! Yes its a regular gold schaller 8 bridge. I've said this before, but while I'd NEVER usually take a drill to a Rickenbacker, I PROMISE this one was a battered example (and bought cheap)!! I think the previous owner wore nail studded jewellery and kept it in a case lined with rocks. I have discovered that dents can be lifted out of wood finishes by careful ironing over a damp cloth (steam draws back the grain to a remarkable degree, unless of course any wood is actually missing). You pro woodworkers would already know this, but its a little detail which has really improved this bass's looks. In fact it worked well enough for me to abandon plans for an Azureglo refinish, so my dodgy woodwork is there for all to see. It sounds good, too!

It's so beautiful . . . I love the really dark, almost purplish walnut . . .

Looks like I'm not the only one interested in the 4 to 8 conversion, Simon! I just love the way the headstock looks. Fantastic!
