Very cool Peter.
I got the chance to meet WA back in the early 70's when they played at UWSP for a concert series they used to run. I was working dressing room and stage security for Stardate Productions when we weren't doing gigs of our own.

I remember asking Martin about his using a RW strung T-bird when the first two albums had such a prominent and punchy flat wound tone, vintage Rickenbacker, on songs like "Handy" and why he chose that for playing live. IIRC he said something like he needed the roar and sustain of the Gibson, and felt the tone was slotted better for the newer songs when competing with the twin guitars live. He did smile and agree that the Rickenbacker tone on the first album was rather "nicely recorded"

FWIW the current Wishbone Ash will be back in Stevens Point on 04.28.06 at a local venue called Clark Place. Opening act is Eric Lambert (formerly of Heartsfield)and Dave Nelson (Original and current member of Heartsfield)

About 33 years later but it will still be great to hear those tunes again.
