Hey, what's with the Rick on the left? It sure looks like a short scale 4001 to me.

According to the caption it's a 4001S. That's all it says.

Thats an oddity allright. Its not an "S", you can clearly see the binding, and look how close the bridge appears to be to the treble pickup as compared to the one in the backround.

Could be a 21 fretter...
On those, the TP is closer to the treble PU by @ .5"

Could it be that the bass is tipped forward a bit - meaning the headstock is closer to the camera - giving a different perspective?

I thought I read somewhere that Ric DID make a few "short scale" 4001's......they occasionally dropped a few oddballs in the mix, as we've seen previously. I wouldn't be surprised a bit....

Probably the dead spots killed the idea. I'd like to see come up with a medium scale (32") in a different body style.
