Hi Steve,
I feel much more "at home" on the 370. I don't know why. I suspect the neck profile is slightly different - maybe John Hall could tell us if they use the same CNC profiling program to cut the necks.
I really like the feel of the 370 neck and of the guitar. I think that the total 370 "fits" me better than the 360/12v64?

Rick 360 or 370/12 question??

Gary: Your comments are interesting. Based on the Official Site Specifications pages the single difference between the 360 and 370 series is in the added pickup in the case of the Model 370. All of the other specifications appear identical. In the model description of the 360/12 there is special mention of the neck.
It should be safe to assume that the differences you feel are perhaps associated with individual differences you noted in the recent past. The middle pickup does give an instrument a different feel with regard to picking and strumming but this wouldn't explain the differences you note with regard to neck profile. In any event, ordering these instruments today one would expect the necks and bodies to be identical, the finish aside. I have never had the chance to play both instruments side by side so it will be interesting to hear what others have to say about this."The slimmed and re-contoured neck now makes madel 360/12 easier to play than ever. It is also available with an extra pickup (Model 370/12)"

Gary,
Very interesting that you feel the 370 "fits" you better but you are unable to explain it. I've heard really good things about this model - one of the main reasons I went with it as opposed to a 360/12V64 again. Do you think that the difference in body shapes - comfort factor - perhaps makes one "feel" better than the other?
Peter,
Is the neck on the "Harrison" model 12 string (which my 360/12v64 resembled) the same style, contour, etc neck as used on the standard 360/12(saw George use one in a video clip doing "If I Needed Someone" -Compleat Beatles video I think??)or the 370/12 that Roger McGuinn played? The body shape is totally different but I'm curious as to whether the necks were the same on all models.
As always, many thanks to you both for your advice and help.

Geordie9: This is one for John Hall. There have been slight changes to the necks of 360 models over the years. This has been reflected in the discussions of 360 enthusiasts over the years with regard to the vintage 360/12OS (I Call Your Name), the 360/12 New Style (If I Needed Someone) and the 360/12V64 closely resembling the 360/12OS. The 370/12 neck (Mr. Tambourine Man) was, I believe, taken from the 360/12 New Style.
As there are individual differences in sanding and refinements made to templates over the years it is certainly likely that the necks may have changed to some extent. I am hoping that John Hall will be able to address these points. Beyond general trends, it may be necessary to break out the calipers and begin sampling. We are all looking for the perfect neck and identifying "classic periods" could have an impact on the value of certain models during the "golden years."

Good point on the 21 vs 24 frets Gary. An important variable to consider for feel and sound.
