He clearly broke the agreement.....digital music is still music and that contract specifically stated that they were not be involved in ANY aspect of music without prior consent to apple records.

Its an open and shut for Macca

I got my opinions, but I refuse to take sides in a dispute between white male zillionaires...here's a hint, though: I tend to be more sympathetic to people making ongoing contributions to society, as opposed to people riding high on work they did half a century ago...

Meanwhile...there's a school of thought that the 'forbidden fruit' referred to in the book of genesis was in fact the powerfully hallucinogenic mushroom known in the ancient 'middle east' by it's Greek name, the "Kristus"...one thing's for sure: blow your mind with one of those babies and it's impossible to keep pretending you're not naked...

M-m-mushroom... oh my...Image
(oops... sorry... couldn't resist...)
Jokes aside, Gary is right, but i'm afraid, through the years, many people got used to this fruit being specified as apple, so it comes naturally...

This referring to any exotic edible plant by the Europeans as an 'apple' is pretty funny, really, and indicates how much we humans need to fit something new and 'mysterious' into the world as we understand it...to this day, the French refer to a potato as 'apple of the earth'...

Not to mention the hilariously misnamed 'pineapple'...

Pomme de terre? Oh yeah...
Oh well... "tomato" is also "pomme d'or", i.e. "golden apple"...
Okay... how about girasol being referred to as: Canada potato, Jerusalem potato, Earth apple, American artichoke, Brazilian artichoke, Jerusalem artichoke?..
(in Russian, it's called simply topinambur or - yep - Earth pear...)

Since the tomato (as well as the potato) was brought back to Europe by Columbus, et al., and pasta was brought from China by Maco Polo, I find it hilarious to reflect on the fact that, for all of its 'power and glory', you couldn't get a decent plate of spaghetti in ancient Rome...

Wonder what they were washing down with all that wine...rats and garlic?

A rat eating spaghetti is really something to see, that's true...
Oh... what was this thread about?..

A deal is a deal! In my opinion Apple Computers is in the wrong. Not because I want them to be wrong, just because from what I understand of the agreement they are wrong. Now I may be in the wrong and perhaps I don't understand any of this, but do I care one way or the other...not really. I think Dane has the right idea.

I'm just in a bit of a pissy mood these past couple of days and I am venting.

One thing everyone can agree on here is, it's nice to know that no matter who wins, lawyers will once again reap millions.

Send all the lawyers into the sun! Thats what they did in 23rd century Star Trek.

Everyone hates lawyers until they need one...I'm that way with plumbers...

Not really, some of my very best friends are plumbers...but, though I love them like brothers, I won't eat at an Ethiopian restaurant with them...

I'm kinda surprised Apple doesn't hire some youngins to revive the label, sign a few new bands, put out some new releases, and spend a few million bucks...if only as a trial tactic.

I think they are done with that experiment Glenn. I think Apple is and always will be the clearing house for the Beatles.

It is rather amazing how many silly things they were into at the start yet within a few short years they were no longer producing anyone, had completely abandoned everything. John and George probably would have been happier having no solo contracts and been producing others by '73.
