All right! They'll take my late 70's Kramer 250B bass in exchange for the TR35B. I'm picking it up next Monday.

It's mine now!
Such great tone! The TR-35B and the 4001 bass are a match made in heaven! You wanna sound like Squire? Get a Rickenbacker amp! You wanna capture the 70s 4001 tone? Get a Rickenbacker amp! I could go on forever. And the TR-35B is great for guitar also! My 4080 sounds like a dream when played through it.
Well done, RIC!

Mega mega congratulations, Sergio.
I can imagine how that TR35B would make you smile when you plug one of your babies in.

Have fun with your new girlfriend!!!

Here's a stupid question re my TR35B. Right next to the power switch there is one 'Preamp In' socket and one 'Preamp Out' socket. What are these for? Is the latter meant to be connected to the former in order to boost the amp output? Or are they provided simply for enabling the TR35B preamp stage to boost the output of a separate amplifier (or instrument!) for feeding same to a PA system or something? I know I'm sounding totally ignorant on this issue, but I really can't figure out what those two sockets are supposed to be used for. Thanks for reading.

Effects loop, or DI from preamp.

Sergio,
Are the sockets A) Preamp Out+Poweramp In or B) Preamp In+Preamp Out?
If it's "A", then your TR35B has an effect loop that can send the signal from the "Preamp Out" socket to an external compressor, EQ or Chorus/Flanger whose output will be plugged back into "Poweramp in". The TR35B's master volume will be used to control the overall volume. The Preamp out socket can be used alone for sending out the signal to a PA system or DI recording.
If it's "B", the "Preamp Out" acts as in A. The "Preamp In" might be a socket that can accept output from another instrument or effect unit. But don't fully believe me on the "Preamp In" issue because I'm not 100% sure.

Paul:
The answer is Preamp In / Preamp Out. Plugging a bass guitar, for instance, into the Preamp In socket results in a muddy sound and reduced volume, not to mention that in this mode the three tone controls become disabled, so, the Preamp In socket is definitely not meant for an instrument.

Looks like the Preamp In socket is for receiving "line (pre-amplified) level" signals which goes directly to the power amp, bypassing the tone controls in the TR35B's preamp section.
