If I dont know the answer to something, I wont reply. If I can add some kind of insight, I will. All questions are valid, no matter how "silly" they may seem.
As far as the 4003 Jetglo goes, did you put down a deposit? If you did, is it refundable? I would call around. Im sure you could find a Jetglo somewhere pretty quick.
Here a few:

Nate, even us veterans see our messages or questions go unnoticed. I asked for a rough headcount on the upcoming Midwest Confluence, and the message thread quickly veered into another lane.
On the other hand, you can't assume that the people with the answers are watching. It's Easter weekend, and it's pretty quiet here. There have been times when some veterans have disappeared for extended periods due to family/job/health or some other crisis, so while we expect that "Paul" will quickly pipe in with the answer, he might never see the question until it gets buried with the passage of time. I don't think it has anything to do with ignoring newbies.
And, just to show that I'm answering the original question, I think that Musician's Friend has a standard listing for Rickenbacker instruments that's always in the catalog, no matter what the stock levels or backorder situation is. They may have to amend their backorder reply to something more current, but they may never "know" when they'll actually get the back ordered stock, and they probably don't want to dissuade potential customers with a "someday" delivery notice.

Guys, I understand someone might not be there, or something being missed, but really, is it that hard to scroll down? If I don't know what an answer is to a question or something I'll try and say "I don't know, but hopefully someone who does can chime in." or something. I've seen a few others answer posts like that, and it just seems polite.
Sheena, I know what you mean. I'm actually afraid to post at some forums. I'm a lurker. I'm a very sensitive person, and any slight insult by a stranger makes me feel like complete **** for a couple days. Now people I know ...that's ok. They're usually joking.
I've posted a few times on here that I love Ashlee Simpson. Well the forum I go to for all the news if filled with complete jerks. They say stuff like "Eww, you're a freak! Stop posting here!" "This guys an idiot!" "Stop posting the same info!" They suck. I have maybe 20 total posts on that forum, and I've been going for over a year. I don't post because I'll most likely get flamed.. the one time I kept a thread going (She was in the charts in NZ, and she still is) they told me to shut up. I haven't been flamed, thank god, but I always feel I may, so I just read. Of course, when I want to/do chime in I'm ignored or the thread is locked.. lol.
That's what we're not supposed to let the newbies think. I'll post here, but if they ignore me they may not want me. That's why I think everyone should try and reply to the threads with just one post. At least say "Sorry, wrong section!" Or something. This isn't a super special secret club! Welcome the new guys. Hell, my first thread here was like 25+ extra posts.. I was excited by all the response.. don't let the other new guys lack that experience.
I'm sounding anal, and I'm sorry.
And to stay on topic (This forum drifts a lot, but I love it.. I find it entertaining) I'd order a Rick from Musician's Friend, but I hate waiting, so I dunno. My best bet would be look for a used bass. I hope you get your's in a few weeks
"ah, she's useless as always, but she has to say something"
LIES! I enjoy your posts.
And now to lighten the mood.. here's a really bad pic of me giving a thumbs up!

Nate, it's all good, it's just that (for me, anyway) trying to answer a question about RIC wait times is like trying to predict the future, and I don't have a crystal ball!

That's a topic that a lot of people can't help with. The few who can choose not to at this time, and I miss their input here.

I too have been shunned many times. seems more so recently after a small disagreement i had with someone lol. But i really dont think it is personal issue (i hope not anyway )though Usually if it is something a forumite can help with, the problem gets addressed.Plus i know sometimes i feel like if i never type again it would'nt bother me lol .

The reality is that not every question or comment will be acknowledged. I don't think there is any malice intended. It just happens.

The reality is, as it seems to me, not every comment is
noticed, especially when three or more people post their comments at the same very minute, or a couple of minutes from each other. I remember a few situations like that: while i'm typing, somebody else is typing, too, and then two comments appear that tell exactly the same - the words may be different, though...

I ordered a 4003 from Music123 in January when their website said "Availability Jan 15". After January 15, it was clear they just make up these dates to get people to order (just like Musician's Friend). They hadn't even sent my order to Rickenbacker and were not scheduled to send in the order until the end of January. John Hall also made it clear that they don't give out estimates of deliveries so the dates on the site were fiction.
So I cancelled my order. If Music123 hadn't even ordered the guitar yet and there were customers who had ordered RICs months and months ago (sometimes years depending on the model), what chance was there that Music123 would get me my guitar within a year?
I searched the net for a guitar shop in North America that had a 4003FG in stock. I found one in Austin TX, called, held the guitar and sent out certified cheque to them by courier. I had the guitar within a week!
