The more I look at it, the more I agree with what David says; the guitar has more things in common with it from the 50s than any other period. I'll bet it weighs a TON, for the body is Maple and butcher-block contructed.

Solid body and did not weigh a lot, John. The serial number is C8145 (sorry for the blurry pic). I will end up seeing the owner again in Dallas. No one there could identify it.

That's a beautiful guitar. The deluxe features just set it off.

John - I sent the photos but I think 2 of the emails got returned out of 3. Did you get any of them? I can shrink them and try again. Part of the problem might be the aol address.

That's not a solid body, is it?

If the serial number is C8145 it doesn't show up in the RIC data base.

Jerry, it is solid in appearance but could be hollowed inside. I did not have any time to enjoy or inspect it. This happened very quickly and all I could do was hurridly get the pictures.
Stan, thats the correct serial number - for sure. That much I can guarantee that I could at least get that right. He was heading for Vintage Guitar Magazine to see if they would do a cover story on it. My guess is that they just might.

What if instead of being C8145 it is CB145...according to the database that would put its manufacturing date as Feb, 1963. Maybe?

No, its an "8" not a "B." Oh well...
