You guys really think I could do better than $3500? Mine has a few headstock dings that I thought would lower the value. And I thought I'd not gouge fellow Forumites in the process. But I do appreciate everyone's honesty.

However, I also have a Jetglo 4001C64S that I REALLY want to sell since I have a 4001C64. There's a chance I may pull the CS off the market if the C64S sells first.

I need to play the forum newbie card....I've heard of people going and "flipping" houses, but is that the same thing for a guitar/bass/etc? What does "flipping" an instrument entail?

Well, it's started - first bid on the GC CS.

Alisha, it is the same thing, buying it for a low price and selling it soon after for a higher price. CS models have been at a premium of late.

Ron,

I would not be surprised it if went for more then $3500 on E-bay. The marker there seems to have no bounds these days.

I thought more about it and I'm pulling my CS off the market. I figure I'd probably regret it later.

I regret any one I have let go of, Ron. Good move if you can afford to do it.

That last eBay bass was practically NOS, which is why it reached that price. Of course, with eBay, you may get lucky with bidders in a frenzy driving the price up more than what it's really worth...
I think that predominantly the $4K mark is still around the going rate for the majority of these CS basses at present.

Good call, Ron.

Then again there are only two basses out of 150 or so I regret having sold - my '68 Paisley Telecaster and my Sea Green V63. With the rest I found once they are out of my sight I was better off with the cash. Now I'm down to my real keepers - the ones that will stay unless disaster strikes.

Ahhhh...the Sea Green...(sigh)...If you had sold it to me Tim, I would have let you have it back(same price)! Not because I didn't really want it, but because I knew how much you really didn't want to sell it.

I am going to check out this bass in a little while. There is a very, very small chance i'll come home with it. But there's a chance! Image

Thanks, Jeff. That really helps a lot!

Actually a very kind statement. (reading this Steve?)

I must admit - I was in a bind and the sale did help though.

Well I'll be darned! That one that's linked in that post a few before me has the serial number one digit before me. He's got it listed wrong too, I think. He's saying that's an "R4"61xx, the pic of the jack (why bother with the xx??!!!) sure looks like H4-6158 to me, which puts it squarely in August '91, as he states. My CS is H4-6159. Cool beans!
