Initially I wasn't too keen on the finish. Online it looks rather bland but once I saw a model with the BB finish in person, I was hooked. John Williams 4005 in that finish is simple stunning.
Here's my 4004Cii I recently procured from a forumite. Thanks Ed!
I like BB, my wife and I saw one in Bass Emporium one day a year or so ago, she LOVED it. She said if it had been lefty she would have bought it for me on the spot.

Actually I've seen a BB 4004 Cii in the flesh and was less than impressed. The pics I've seen of a BB 4003 have made me rethink...for me I think the binding adds something to the effect of the color.

I like the Blue Boy and the Sea Green, although I don't own an instrument in either color. I'd like to see other pastel colors offered from time to time. A pastel yellow would be wonderful and would probably sell really well.
Dave when did you order yours? I have one coming from The Rickenbacker Page, 4003FL, maybe there's hope I'll get it soon. I like the pastels, I got a mint Seagreen 4003 also.
I'm not very fuzzy about colours but I like the traditional FG most. Of course Rick is keen on issuing different colours continuously to satisfy the vanity of the collectors, that's an excellent profit, selling the same old story in different colour. Reminds me of the Barbie doll collection of my little sister. She war crazy on every new hair colour available.
For such "high end" instruments as Rick basses, I personally don't like other colours than the traditional ones, or have you ever seen a BB Ferrari??? (The red, black or yellow F35 ones all sound the same like it is with the 4003 in FG, JG and MG)

I loved the Blueboy finish from the first time I saw it, and I still totally love it. One day I'll own a Blueboy 4003, that's for sure. Blueboy and Azureglo are my all-time favorite Ric colors (BTW, Blueburst is my least favorite Ric color).
I have a 4003BB that I picked up from Peter Cook's in the UK for £959 or thereabouts earlier on this year which is £200 less than the average shop price where I am from.
Mine is one of the green tinged blue boys and I love it so much I sold all of my other basses and kept this one. I fitted a toaster, pickguardian vintage scratchplate and matching pickup surround.
I use it with my function band, pub rock band, Black Sabbath Tribute band, big band and a jazz quartet. How's that for versatile?
