Also, if you try & raise the neck pup farther than it should you will crack the pickguard, just like the previous owners of my 4001 & 4080 have done. The space between the screws that hold the assembly together at the corners allow you to over tighten the height adjustment screw & crack the guard.

Actually, I think mine had small lengths of a rubber tube similar to surgical tubing. I found one in the neck pup cavity of my 4001. Someone obviously removed them when destroying the pickups at one time. The height adjustment screws were the wrong type also.
The cracks in the pickguards are there now anyway.
