Hahahaha! No one knows Michael Stanley outside of Ohio, and even then, probably mostly in Cleveland . . . the Michael Stanley Band was a band from Cleveland that put out several albums in the 70s. They got a lot of airplay in the area, but never really made it big. Really, really awesome, however; I would recommend everyone check them out. They're really good. The Cleveland Hard Rock Cafe has an entire wall devoted to the Michael Stanley Band; they're kind of Cleveland's golden boys . . .

One cool thing, though, is that my dad is a HUGE Michael Stanley fan (he had one of their songs played at my parents' wedding) . . . when we moved to Savannah, it turned out that the mother of one of my sister's good friends is actually Michael Stanley's sister! Small world . . .

The Michael Stanley Band isn't entirely unknown outside of Ohio. My older brother's vinyl record collection still includes the 1976 MSB LP "Ladies' Choice," and the earlier song "Rosewood Bitters" is considered a "KSHE classic" here in St. Louis. (KSHE is a classic rock radio station that's been around since the late 1960s.)

I have a bunch of Michael Stanley Band's albums. Fine band. 'Let's Hear It' is one of my favorite tracks.

Oooh, people do know them, then! I personally like "Pirouette". Beautiful song.

Dad got a huge lithograph of the album artwork for "The Ground", signed by Michael Stanley, for Christmas, after we met his sister.
