Was the other Manfred Mann cover of a Springsteen song "I Came For You"?

I would imagine that a lot of people here would like the various covers of Dylan tunes especially by The Byrds. Mr. Tambourine Man among others, It ain't me Babe, The Turtles. Those are definitely in the interpretation vein to me also though.

There are a ton of covers of Dylan stuff that I think are better than the original.
Patti Smith's version of "Because the Night" can't be considered a cover since she co-wrote it w/Springsteen.

I didn't know she was a co-writer, I thought he had written it for her.

I like Dylan's original stuff better than the covers usually but then again I like his early folk stuff, he actually sang very well back then with vibrato and everything, was a very good guitar player also.

Bob, Bill good points but I think Bob is correct in his observation that Dylan covers are in the in the interpretation vein. I suppose one could argue that all covers are interpretations but my definition of cover for this topic is where an artist/s stick pretty close to original version whilst perhaps adding something or not to it.
The Dylan covers were so drastically different to Dylan's originals that in some instances people perceive them to be the original.

George Thorogood with Move It On Over, written and recorded by Hank Williams Sr. in the late 40's. Thorogood certainly made it his own, so much so that many still think that he was the first to release it.

As far as Dylan is concerned, i'd suggest Simon & Garfunkel's version of "The times they are a-changin'" is slightly better than the original; i'd suggest the best version (imho) of this song was done by Blackmore's night, but it goes far from the main topic since it's not the version from the 60s.
As far as "Blue suede shoes" go... i'd suggest it might be kind of a "psychological" thing - like, which one you've heard first, or which one is strongly associated with a certain sweet moment in your life (some also say it's just me - always having to say "i disagree" - could be, but i really do prefer Carl's version

)
One of the nicest covers IMHO - wouldn't say it's better than the original, but very interesting in my view - Swinging Blue Jeans take on "Ol' man mose" by Louis Armstrong.

"No Matter What", the Badfinger tune recently covered by Def Leppard. I don't necessarily think it's better than the original, maybe equally good. It's got a bit more energy than the Badfinger version, I like it.

One of my all time favorite cover tunes is "Out of Time" (Jagger/Richards) recorded by Chris Farlowe.
In fact, I like it just as much as I like the original.

Townes Van Zandt's version of "Dead Flowers" by the Stones is a great one.

I think the Beatles Twist And Shout murders the Isleys. And as much as I love Simon And Garfunkel, the Yes version of America is amazing.

Certainly here in UK I would think the Beatles version of Twist and Shout was first time many of us would have heard it. The searchers did a version on their first album released about 4 month after Beatles first album and a credible version it was too. Never really like Brian Poole and The Tremeloes version though although it did make number 4 in UK charts in July 63.

Of the past four covers that were mentioned, I think the originals are much better, except for the Beatles, and I do like The Isleys version a lot also, the Beatles is an interpretation to me also, The Beatles version is so British sounding.

I got it. "Spirit in the Night" was the other Manfred Mann cover, much better than the orig. Could find very little on iTunes on MM, just one greatest hits album, and that was before the more current Springsteen covers. Anybody know where to download these MM/Springsteen covers?
