I have a Strat and a Tele hanging on the wall next to the Rics. The ratios listed below sums up my time spent using electric six strings:
1997 40%
360 (HB) 25%
Strat 25%
Tele 10%

Of course with a 12 string, it Ric all the way.

With regards to an acoustic, a J-45RW is used 100% of the time since Ric hasn't built my left-handed 730S yet. I looked at a 730S JG earlier in the week, but there were two problems with it. One, it was right-handed and two, it was sold before i decided to pull the trigger and attempt to convert it to a lefty. Someone else will be getting a lot of enjoyment from that Jetglo beauty.

Each to his/her own, everybody! There are some things I like to play on a Strat - mainly because of the sound I'm looking for. There are others that I like to play on a Rickenbacker - for the same reasons.

The important thing in this thread is that Jay has found a few alternatives in his search for a suitable product.

Paul: I look forward to some healthy debate (maybe over a bee-yah and fine cee-gar) on the merits or otherwise of all things Fender... and Rickenbacker, of course!!

And I promise - no chicken grease on your fine collection of Jags, Stangs, Duos, Jazzs, etc!

In regards to playing Rickenbackers, I'm loyal but not faithful. I do have a very nice Strat that sees the light of day from time to time.

For me I find that I am playing my Rickenbackers 90% of the time and the one I enjoy the most is my 1967 Ric 450/6. I also have a 1967 Ric 330/6, an early 60's 315 modified to a 325, and a 1957 Combo 400 that Paul is bringing back to life. The other 10% of playing time goes to my 1967 Hofner 470 and a 1964 Fender Musicmaster with two pick ups a great little guitar.

Len, if you have a '64 Musicmaster with two pickups, it's been modded with a bridge pickup added, or it's a Duo-Sonic body with a Music Master neck added. Is it a 22 1/2 or 24" scale?

Either way, you're right--it's a terrific and underrated little guitar.

I still love that out of phase neck & middle pup sound from a nice Strat. A Jag has it's own sound & it wants you to play different licks, too. It just feels like a different entity altogether.
You just need different tools for different tones at times.

A jag also has an out of phase switch. It's the third switch on the three-switch panel on the treble horn. Some call it the "thin" switch.
