Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey from the White album. Its not only a great tone, but a great bass line too.

I agree with Nate - Wings Over America has great bass playing and a great sound from the Ric - Beware My Love is a standout for me...

....Me and My Monkey is a killer bass line and tone. And another vote for Rain. And Glass Onion. And Dear Prudence.

All great votes, Dave - although I'm not convinced Glass Onion is the Ric - Or even McCartney playing the bass line - sounds like the Fender Bass VI to me...

General consensus is the Jazz Bass on Dear Prudence and Glass Onion. Or so I'm told!

Thanks for all of the updates everybody. I have been sticking with Sgt. Pepper for now. I'll have to get a handle on Rain sometime. I do love the Dear Prudence bass line too.

Was 'Ram' all Paul on the Ric?

I have roundwounds on my only Ric but I can see I'll need some flats to really get McCartney down. I have another non-Rick bass that I'll put flats on next week, but I guess I'll just have to get another Ric so I can get one with flats & one with rounds!

I did find this site that goes over the history of Paul's bass playing style:

"Silly Love Songs"

The bass carries the whole tune.

Hi Greg, thanks for the links to those amazing old videos. Great stuff! Had to pick up a Rick after watching.

Man, that guy has been doing some heavy lifting for a long, long time. Where would modern music be without him.
I'm just happy to be here.

Hmmm,,some quick editing. At the beginning of Hi,Hi,Hi Paul's horseshoe is very visible. But right at 15 seconds into the video, theres a quick shot of Paul picking right above the treble pickup and the 'Shoes are gone.

He must have taken the 'shoes off during that tour.
