I saw Peter Buck in Seattle with Robyn Hitchcock in March-he played a jetglo 360 with hi-gains, and a RM sig 370-12 with toasters.

Ya know something Sérgio, this is very strange.
With the low resolution needed to post here, they do look like toasters (two black slots). But I could swaer that the originals look like higains (small black dots).
This is very odd. (!)
I will go back and check again.

Dave Gregory of XTC played a 360/12 with hi-gains in the early 1980's, and the Smithereens played a number of Rickenbackers with hi-gains as well. The only Smithereens guitar with toasters I ever saw was Pat's Townshend limited edition guitar in a video. I think Jim Babjak used an early Rick jazzbo guitar once in a video too. In the 90's, one of the best players of a 360 with hi-gains was Adam Devlin of the Bluetones. Check out their 1st album, namely the song "Bluetonic". After hearing him, I went out and bought a Fireglo 360 just like his. However, I switched to 370's with toasters a few years ago and simply coudn't go back to the hi-gains. The 360 was sold in 2004. I still like to hear the hi-gains as played by other people, but I've got to have toasters when I play. Think of modern indie pop songs with the heavy compression sound of the Byrds' "Fifith Dimension" album, and you've got my live sound, primarily using a 370 six-string with toasters.

Jeff, Adam Devlin is a friend of mine. I pass on your compliments.

That should say 'I'll pass on your compliments to Adam' and not 'I pass on...' which my unfortunate typing error makes it seem like I snubbed your comment. Sorry for my err.
I will pass on your compliments to Adam.

Trying again with someone else's photo.
Hopefully sharper this time and can clearly see the "dots" of the higain.

Bernard Sumner of New Order plays a hi-gained 360/12FG live these days:
