Hahaha!! Me neither, Sheena, but a few of the seeds planted during my formative years grew into trees and actually bore fruit!

So the temptation to reply was too much Howard?

Can't wait for you let the folks in the US know, when you visit them, just what does go on over here! Maybe you explain, (after reading your comment about sowing seeds), why there are a number of guys over here called "Wombat"

Howard, We will have the last laugh in August, won't we? We'll be able to explain the meaning of the phrase "....a few kangaroos loose in the top paddock.." to all of our US mates! Image

That is, after we've crossed the Pacific ocean on the back of a platypus, eh? Image

Dead right, Darren!

I'm sure there are a lot of Aussie expressions that may need an explanation! Image

So you're going Platypus, eh? I'm flying Cockatoo.....

My ROTC instructor in college was Australian. It's always fun to hear "drop down and give me 50 push-ups" with an accent.

Hey guys... I mean mates... I just saw a movie this week called "The World's Fastest Indian" where Anthony Hopkins plays an aging motorcycle enthusiast from Invercargill, New Zealand who comes to the US to race. Anyone else seen it? Very good stuff. I was wondering how folks down under liked it.

Hi Jason.

Haven't seen the movie but I'll look out for it.

BTW, the term 'down under' doesn't include New Zealand. A lovely place it is, but Kiwis have strange accents and have a thing about sheep. Image

Ah, interesting. In the movie, he tells people in the US he is from 'down under.' He does say 'Kiwi' a lot.

On a barely related note, I find it amusing that the new Outback Steakhouse TV commercials (here in the US at least) feature a well known Kiwi comedian. Eh. What can I say. I'm surrounded by maroons!

...and let's face it. Who DOESN'T have a thing for sheep? Am I right people?

(For the 'slower' readers... I AM KIDDING!!! We don't have many sheep in Tampa)

I only have a thing for (counting) sheep when I can't fall asleep, Jason. 1...2...3...4...5...6...

Otherwise people who have a thing for sheep should get a wife er, I mean a life. Image
