As for that pot with switch that is available... I don't care for it..
The quality is a bit low and it's size is too small for the hole in the pickguard..ALso it is a bit too long...
Instead I buy a USA made CTS pot with just a two terminal SPST switch on the back... They have them in 1 Meg... Then I buy a plain CTS pot with 500K audio taper.. I take the pots apart and switch the phenolics... Wa-La, now I have a high quality 500K tone pot with a good switch on it...
I have a few of these that I made if anyone is interested..

Chris, I hope you're not speaking of our pot/switch. It's custom made for us by Alpha and most certainly is not too long. Alpha's quality is pretty good and only getting better; you'll see their product in many high-end audio systems.

CTS moved all pot production to Taiwan a number of years ago; if you have something marked USA, it's not new. If it's not marked, it's from Taiwan, only labelled on the packaging.

Also, the switch that you show is designed for AC power and will pop over time, whereas the dry contact slider type as on the Alpha is self-cleaning.

John.. Maybe I have your pot confused with another pot..
I bought it thinking it was a Ric part... It is a ALPHA DPDT with a 17mm body..The pot would be 25.6mm deep below the pickguard when using no star washers..
Two problems with the one I have.. One is it bottoms out in the control cavity..I have to remove the star washers to make it just barely fits tight, but then the threads stick up too far from the pick-guard..
The other problem is the shaft size is too small at 6.8mm for the hole in my pick-guard which was originally intended for a 9.5mm shaft pot....
Is it possible I have the wrong pot??

I got my push/pull pot from Ric directly, before they ran out. It fit through the hole in the pickguard fine, but bottomed out in the harness cavity. My 4003 is an '87, and sometime in the 90's Ric started making the harness cavities deeper (according to John Hall in the Ric forum). In my case, I had to (nervously) route out a bit of the cavity to get the pot seated properly. I had to take about 1/8" out to get it in there. It came out fine though and after some wiring tweaks it's playing great. No pops or cracks from the cap when I switch...just the deeper tone with the cap in use (which gives the perception of raised volume, but not too bad).
