The '69 is a 21-fretter too, Graham. Cool.
The '63 looks okay to me, I've seen others made the same way. Dunno if the 'guard is a replacment or not, but so what....it's a great bass, and can you say rare???

Hey, hey, hey! That 21-fretter looks exactly like my August '70 one - which originally was Fireglo by the way. Graham, man, what are you waiting for? Go for the both of them, now! They're rare, beautiful and desirable. Got any additional pictures of either of them?

Does the horse shoe work?
I do like that 69 also, doesn't have that silly horseshoe in the way, haha! Is that a screw top transitional high gain or a more modern one, it looks like it has screw tops to me.

They're both cool basses. To me, the price on the 69 is not that out of whack for a rare bird like that...not that 63's are common...

Sorry guys. I just bought them both today for a clean 12,000. I can't wait to get them next week. I will post pictures and first impressions as soon as I can. I kid I kid. ;P
