Very nice work Ginger! Your 4002FL sounds excellent, can you tell us some techie info relating to the sound you are getting? My 4003FL sounds very nice but doesn't quite get that classic fretless tone you are getting. No doubt, the type and positioning of the pickups on the 4002 are greatly contributing to that tone, not to mention string type EQ, etc.

well...its flat...no eq whatsoever..no fx...direct into my old teac 4 track reel to reel..i use rotosound swing bass round wounds...actually..the tone is in your fingers believe it or not...people think im nuts saying that,,but its true..i also raise the nut a lil ...the gstring side of my bridge is as low as it can go..the nut is higher..gives you higher action..but helps with left hand muting and my vibrato is more like a cello

grrr my yahoos down right now..ill have a listen tomorrow hon..im a roundwound player...gives that jaco esque tone..i al;so have studied his technique in fascination since 1976 when i pulled the frets outta my old hagstrom..i usually take all the treble off my center pickup and leave iot wide open on the bridge pickup as well..i always leave the bass wide open with volume..using how hard i play as dynamics..another thing i do ..not in the vids but in my mp3's an live is use spring reverb..gives a lil ..prescence to the singing quality..the strings im using are 2 years old as well

Ginger, loved all the videos. I've never heard mwah like that before. You really do control the sound of that instrument so well. I hope you have more videos, or will make more.

Ginger, I have only one complaint.. it doesn't seem loud enough. You hit the strings so lightly I can barely hear it sometimes. When I do I'm blown away. Sorry if that seemed a little insulting. I'm impressed with your amazing playing though. And I do love that mwah you get.

Gee... how do you do that?! And that's a fretless...
Do you teach?Image
I'm impressed. It's a tough job (i know - i tried, but with little successImage), but it looks as if it's very easy for you.
BTW, i'm wondering: did you take lessons at a "music school" or are you 100 % self-taught?

It's not often that when you watch and hear someone play, that you can sense the near-divine connection between hands and instrument, musician and music, artist and art... there are times watching you play that it's almost like the music's playing you, and you've shown us your soul in bass clef...

Yeah, I'm a fan. And in the course of writing the music for my record, I'm definitely keeping you in mind... I'd be honored beyond belief if you'd be on it!
What do you mean the Bass is too loud???
