Can anyone post the web-site and physical address, etc. of the JL Museum in Tokyo so that we have it for quick reference, if business travels put us in the vicinity ? Is it difficult to get there via subway trains ?

The website is here. It actually isn't in Tokyo but out in Saitama prefecture. The website has directions and it can be an adventure getting out there.

As an aside, you may find it interesting to Google for info about the Taisei Corp. and find yourself wondering "Why do they operate this museum?" I already know the answer but it's better that people come to their own conclusions.

Thank you Mr. Hall, for the web-link info on the Museum... looks like the Museum is further distance from central Tokyo than Narita airport is.... which is saying a lot !

That is an interesting question you raise. I checked out the Taisei Corp corporate web-site and am still trying to figure out why they are involved in sponsoring this Lennon Museum .... I did not see any names of their Board of Directors that might have the same family name as Yoko Ono. It looks like they have an office in Long Beach, California and were at one time involved with the Hotel at Torrey Pines golf resort, and they obviously have been involved in lots of buildings, bridges and other such construction projects..... but I'm still trying to find the Beatle or music connection..... intriguing !

Is the connection perhaps "Walls and Bridges" the Lennon album ? And that is the business that Taisei is involved in, literally, building walls and bridges ?? Maybe their corporate motto or something like that reminded them of the Lennon album name ??

John, I checked those web-sites out and I can't come up with anything. I agree, without Manabu I would have never made it there. We did get there about 1/2 hour before opening time. I remember having one of those great 'hot' coffees(in a can) out of a vending machine and thinking these could catch on back home! They seemed to be on every corner in Tokyo and I made good use of them.

Could there be a Yoko connection to the company?

OK, this may be a bit out there, but I thought Yoko has been buying up apartments in the Dakota. Could Taisei be involved because of Yoko's real estate wealth?

There's certainly significant Yakuza involvement in the Japanese construction industry.

I have no idea how many people pass through the JLM each year, but at a cost of $8 to $12 a head (U.S.) there has to be some return on their investment.

Aside from all the issues such as why this museum is in Japan, etc., the main reason that it's there in Saitama is as a destination attraction organized by Taisei to promote the development of their center there. It's far enough removed that not so many people would otherwise go there for the various sporting and other events they hold on that property.
