A 'umble junior member offers to get this thread back on track by asking did the Ruttles sport any Rics in that oft forgotten cinema classic?

Ron Nasty did indeed sport a mid '60s 615 FG, and Dirk McQuickly (sp?) used a 4001FG LH.

All this talk of spam and dead parrots made me go out and get the set of all 45 episodes on DVD (as well as HOLY GRAIL).

Amen Jerry. I've had the series on VHS, both copied off the tele and the official VHS release, for years.

No matter how many times I watch those episodes I still laugh my butt off.

In Ritchie Unterberger's great 'Unknown Legends of Rock and Roll' book (which, IIRC, also includes a photo of Skip Spence from Moby Grape with a 360), there's a photo of the Archaeology-era 3-piece Rutles in which Stig O'Hara is holding what looks like a 360, but I doubt it's a Rickenbacker, since Barry Wom's drumkit sports an "Earwig" logo. Unfortunately, I can't read the truss rod cover, but I would suspect that it reads "Lickenbacker", "Ricenbacker", "Wickenwacker", or something similar. Does anyone know for certain? ;^) ...
My basses are Rickenbackers. My synthesizers and recording gear are analog.

Doug, take a look at this: http://www.rutles.org/rpix/cavern.jpg

Definitely not a 360, but it's a photo of the Rutles performing at The Cavern Club, October 1961. It's also the cover photo of "the Rutland May 1960 CD, one of the many releases of the recordings of the Rutles made in Hamburg prior to being signed with Parlorphone".

It is a Model 450. Based on the tailpiece, it seems to have a vibrato arm missing.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Thanks, Peter. I just can't believe I'm posting about the Rutles and Stig's guitar. Image

Peter and Dave: I think what Ron Nasty is playing is a Rose-Morris version of a model 615, if not a 615 with black knobs---pickups are mounted on top of the body, not routed in. This is the only one of these I've seen too. There have to be more of these floating around.

John: You are right. Thanks for the correction and the excellent eyesight!
