Greg - if you're interested, I've got an original black TRC w/ white lettering that I'm not using and am willing to sell.

Jeff - I spent the mid 80's paying off the mortgage. People thought I was crazy - losing my tax deduction. My reply was "Let's see, I give the bank a dollar and the government gives me 15 cents. I'm still out 85 cents!" Haven't had a mortgage payment since about 1988 or so. Allowed us to invest in the girl's vollyball. I put about 20K each into training for both and Kaija got 48K in scholorships and Erin got 140K. Pretty good return on my investment! Erin is also getting her masters paid - tuition and being a grad teaching asst. Might go to a doctorate, if she wants.
Sure, I lost my mortgage tax deduction.....
Oh, and Rickenbacker.

that is great ... I was on track to do a similar payoff ... but 2 divorces screwed up my finances ... if you can double your mortgage payments then you can pay off a 30 year mortgage in 7 years ... and save a lot of money ...

You save a LOT of interest! About 77%! Doubling just the principle amount (probably more reasonable) will payoff in 21.75 years and save about 32%.

Let's see, a 4001CS at 7k financed for 5 years at 7%.... $138.61/mo. and $8316.60 total. You wouldn't do it as an investment!
How to exchange a TRC with Ric Factory?

"if you can double your mortgage payments then you can pay off a 30 year mortgage in 7 years..."
That is the big "If" of the day.
As the old saying goes: If ifs and buts where candy and nuts, it would be Christmas every day!
