Reevaluating my Rick

The neck on my 650C is no thicker than my other (former) Ricks, '87 610 & '97 360V64, just wider. The body is approx. 1" wider than a Tele or Strat on the lower bout. The body is contoured both front and back, although is dosen't show it that well in the pics. It is not too heavy IMO. Very comfortable. The humbuckers do sound like humbuckers. They are voiced different than a typical Gibson.

Ok, I'm starting to drool. I've had a Mapleglo 650C with the vibrato option on order since January of this year. I sometimes wonder if I truly needed to order that guitar or if I should have ordered something different. Now I know that it was definitely the right choice. It'll make a nice companion to my 380L PZ. All hail the modern boys!

You actually could play blues with toasters (after all, one can even play great blues on an acoustic), just get a funky old amp amp and turn the treble all the way down.

Oooh John, nice choice! I've been thinking of ordering the exact same thing. I sold my 650D so I could afford a 1996 and I miss it.

Thanks, Ethan. Glad you approve. Everyone who has a 650 raves about it, so I was pretty keen, and I love the simple elegance of Mapleglo. But a 1996 is nothing to sneeze at either. I'd say that you made a worthy sacrifice.

I got the vibrato because you just don't see it very often and Noel spoke highly of it in another thread. John Hall talks about it being super smooth, too, so who am I to resist?

Mapleglo is one of my favorite finishes, maybe my favorite, and I saw a 'sold' 650C MG on the Internet a while back that was just gorgeous. I've been curious about the vibrato too and, just like you, I figured that if I had to order one I might as well add on the VB. I'm really excited for the 1996, but there's definitely a hole in my collection now that the 650D is gone.
