I have seen bridge pickup surrounds with sharp edges like the one on this '73, but I recall seeing them on earlier basses....many of them with 1971 and '72 serial numbers. Having said that, I think it's very possible that this one is original to the bass, despite it's later production...YMMV.

If you find one of those sharp cornered models at a dealer they tack on another $300- its one of those "rare features". Image

This is a pic of a 73' BG I played last year while recording...It had a toaster, CHB binding, no full MOP... but check out the sharp edges of the pickup surround...Image
