I would say at least 2 of the runs of 75 would include some form of 4000 series & 300 series.

I believe that the clues lead us to 4 models with a run of 75 each. These guitars may or may not be current models, but based on previous posts by Mr. Hall and Ben, will be in a special color. I'm guessing it will include a bass. If anyone was at the Starship concert last night, that should help us put together some of these puzzle pieces.

The boys over at Beatgearcavern are saying it's a Paul Kantner signature model. Hmmm...

I'd be surprised if they released a signature model in honor of their 75th anniversary as a company. No disparagement intended for Paul Kantner - it seems like the intent would be to celebrate the company, rather than an individual artist. However, there isn't a New Style 60s 360 in the V or C series lineup, and that's what Kantner played, isn't it?

...Unless they simultaneously released four signature models in limited quantities. There are a number of noted Rickenbacker artists that could produce interesting signature models, for example Mike Campbell's jetglo 615 with three pickups, but that might not have the name recognition that justifies a larger production run. Paul Kantner might fit into that category, if we're making categories... And so might Pete Quaife of the Kinks. Etc etc

Anyway I doubt it'll be anything that complicated.

As I was reading this post with the '4X75' theme attached, I couldn't help thinking that maybe the "4" would represent 4 models of guitars and basses that would be from different time periods. Say One guitar and bass per 25 years of Ric history. I wouldn't know what the first 25 years would represent other than maybe the Frying pan. But, the following 25 year spans might include guitars that are no longer made but are popular and very representative of that particular time period. That would cover 75 years. But wait, there's more. '4' is the operative here. And the forth guitar/bass combo would be....A NEW MODEL!!!!....or not. Image

On the Rickenbacker forum John Hall made a reference to "the cat's out of the bag" and the guitar "that cat" was playing.

My conspiracy theory, on at least part of the 75th anniversary instrument riddle, goes like this:-

John Hall once owned a pet cat. It's name was Capri. There was a line of Rickenbacker guitars designated Capri.

I named my cat Capri after the line of guitars. I now own three Capris (including the cat). I'd love another Capri (guitar that is, not cat). I reckon that another 75 of them are being built.

If I'm right Mr Hall, can I be at the front of the queue...please! Image

Actually Mr. Hall is having 75 cats sent to your house right now. How is that for a conspiracy theory?

I don't think it's anything earth shattering, gang.

75 4003's in the special color.

Along with 3 sets of 75 in 3 different six string models.

It can't be anything too elaborate that would increase the backlog further.

Still, I'm as curious and excited as everyone else. Surely there are some pics somewhere from that concert.....

If the Annivesary model(s) are to be limited editions, they probably won't affect the backlog.

Didn't RIC do a handful of Frying Pan reissues either this year or last? Maybe there will be a special run of those, a Capri, a 4001v68, and something else "special" (like all other RICs aren't right?) such as a LS or ...? 4 models, 75 units each: interesting theory Mdbuck!
