Drolling...or drooling? To drol or not to drool.

Great guitars, either way.

I think that's why I'm drawn to Sea Green Ricks (five and counting) - Sea Green is a very vintage colour and many of RIC's designs date from the 50's and 60's. Sea Green + Ricks = "uber-vintage"! Image
Melisssa - what finish is your 381?
Gary - let's see some more pics of that 381JK!

Howard - if Toronto is still on your list of stops you can see it in person!

You bet it is, Steve!!

Dean Steliga and I will be staying at the Novotel Toronto Centre on September 11, 12 and 13. Hopefully on one of those nights a heap of guys from TDOT and environs can get together and maybe have a meal, few drinks, jam or all of the above.

We're pretty much wingin' it at this stage but I really would like to get to Healey's pub one night. I believe that Tuesday night is jam night. Don't know whether I'd be game to play but I reckon it would be a hoot! Image

Howard - TDOT??? Damn you're hip!
Do we know if there are other forumites in the area that would be interested in a mini-confluence?

Might be time for a hands up, Dean and Steve. What do you think? Bill Hughey expressed an interest, although he may find it a little tough with school commitments. I think one of those nights is his birthday, too!

I'm not really hip, Steve.... I pinched the expression from Dean and it stuck! Image

Wasn't brain fade, Ron. It was a tpyograhpicla eroor!

Yep, I'm in for Toronto but as Howard says, it kind of depends on how school is going. My birthday is Sept. 12 - does that fit the bill? Should we move this discussion back over into the Confluences section?

Back to the topic, what about a chemical reaction with the finish between the foam/poly or rubber grommet/poly? I've seen a reaction between the Gold backed pickguards and the rubber grommets. Will either eat into the finish after a period of time?

Rick: While I would never say never when it comes to rubber and guitar finishes, I must say that I was suitable impressed when I removed the foam pads from my Model 350 after they had been on the instrument for over a decade. There was no hint of interaction or any discoloration of finish. This is only a sample of one, of course. The paint from the gold guards may be another problem. Perhaps Curmudge has some thoughts on this.
