I’m not sure what happened. I can’t find it anywhere. I’m figuring that it was either purged or I’m in my own personal Rickenbacker Twilight Zone (interesting thought). I did do a web search and this turned up (so maybe purged is correct):

1. The Rickenbacker Forum: Rickenbacker Basses
Research of Rickenbacker Guitars and Basses ... Interesting RIC Tease! Philip Hannaart. 93. 10. 06-30-06 08:13 am ... 06-22-06 09:46 pm. The wonderfull world of Ric-O-Sound! Ken Cumberlidge ...

Anyhow as a consolation prize here are a couple which still show up here:

GENERAL
Discontinued Ric-O-Sound?
Rick-O-Sound on the cheap
Rick-O-Sound units available from Ric again
A Question about Ric-O-Sound

And this is a shortie from the Rickenbacker corp. site:

For the record – I use the ROS whenever possible (dependant on the venue). Unbelievable sound!!!!

Is there still unsold stock left? I wanna get one before they sell out and they start popping up on eBay for $400 apiece . . .

JH has said there is existing stock to last quite a while. You can order from the Boutique for $75.

AND, that $75 seems a bargain too. Strangely, they go for $89 and up on the 'Bay. Go figure. Do you suppose the 70s ones would be subject to the vintage mark-up too? I'm gonna get a new one from JH for my '78 4001 soon.

The beauty of a "V" and "C" series bass is the lack of "ROS" confusion.

Hello,

Yes I' relieved to know it works, but...

I got to the electronics shop to get one of those ``Y`` plug. Tried it with 2 small amps ( the second one borrowed from a friend ) and...well it wasnt that great ( I still couldnt get it to play with only the bridge pick up ) I'm probably doing something wrong here ( ?? )...So I re-plugged with the standard output....

Later while playing I got this ``hum``problem with the 4003...?? When volumes are cranked to the max : no hum in the amp. When volumed are lowered: a big hum in the amp (Ampeg B200R )...J bass doesnt do that. Bad cables ?? Oh, I forgot...I use a Tech 21 driver...

Any ideas or recommendations ??

Marc

Was it a stereo Y-cable? They do come in mono also. Stereo has 2 black bands near the tip, mono just one.

The one to the guitar/bass Ric-o-Sound needs to look like this.

Isn't that what happens with passive electronics? At full on, the pickups cancel each other's hum, but when you start backing off on one or both, they're not opposing anymore? Or did I just pull that all out of the air?
