That one does appear to be AG. The best way to test for AG is to look under the guard and TRC. BTW - Here is a walnut with a burst.

The finish on Ted's 4002 IMO is very reminicant of the two-tone brown you find on some of the early Capri Rickenbackers, mostly from 1958. Even though it's called Walnut, in another application that could be a spot-on Autumnglo. BTW I love the color of that bass, Ted.

Thanks John. The pic of the 4002 may not be totally color correct. There is quite a bit of red in there that is not so apparent in person. You are right though, the first AG (from the 50's) had more red than the later 70's AG. JH has said the first AG was quite a bit closer to FG.

i'm the high bidder on it right now-
always wanted a ric that is the same age as me. i figure we'll understand each other better...
justifying it as an early b-day present to myself.

"always wanted a ric that is the same age as me"
Alas, in my case it can never be! Well not a bass anyway!

Talk about bidding frenzy! That thing had better be mint with no issues for that price.

I'm glad I got my Monty Brown. Not the same as Autumnglo, but as close as possible.

Looks like it would be like buying a brand new 1/1978 4001 but as you say, $2025!!
