Asking $15K and getting $15K are two different things! I'd think half that -ish should be somewhat easy to get and much more would take a little time.
BTW....I love the 3D looking carving on your's Bob. Mine is a little "flatter" looking. Cool!

Bob - that is stunning. That light maple against the darker walnut! And really nice maple it is. The carving is the nicest example of all I've seen!

Actually these pics show that it has a little more depth than the other pic shows.....but the carving isn't as "flowing" in mine as Bob's. I'm not complaining about mine, I love it and I love that they are all different. That's what makes them all special IMO and different than any other model Ric has produced.

Beautiful, Brian...any idea who does the carving on these? Is it someone in house at RIC, or do they sub it out? Either way, it's outstanding work. I've entertained the idea of taking a bass to Bali someday and have one of the cats there do it up for me. Those guys are some carvin' mofo's...

Well, since the carving is so exceptional on mine, I guess I can expect to get an offer for $20K now!
Any takers? I'll consider a trade for some coastal property in Southern Maine.

I think the LK carving has been done by at least three (and maybe more), individuals.
Here's a pic of one of the later carvers:
Every carver has had his own style. I remember John Hall saying that although there was a template for the LK carving, the fellow above (sorry, I don't recall his name), had gone off and done his own thing. Here's a pic of my LK and you'll notice the carving is very different from Brian or Jared's:
The cool thing is that if you look at the bottom bass in the first pic you'll notice that it's my bass! I agree with Brian - the differences in carving are what make the LK basses so unique and interesting.

Has JH ever made comment on dealers buying up limited edition Ricks, and then holding them ransom? Obviously the consumers don't get a very good deal in this case as we will always be second in line. The 75th anniversary models could well be horded by such dealers, and leave none for the real consumers. I don't think the problem is really a huge concern at the moment (with only one example), but it could be...
