If I can get my main computer running again, hopefully in a day or two, I can download the video that I took. I watched it and it came out very nice! If I can't get that computer going, I will hook up with Erik Kutzler or Gary Clauson to download it. I've been using only my laptop for the past couple of weeks, but it doesn't have a firewire post, neither does not computer at work. I'll have that video on DVD soon.

Scotty is Chris's 3rd wife. I was curious about that too, but I have way too much respect for him to even hint at asking. Scotty was very nice and is actually a doctor but is not currently practicing as she and Chris live in London. She left at one point to go get him something when we were all at the bar and they gave each other one of those little peck on the lip kisses. It was actually pretty sweet. I think I blushed...LOL

Kind of spanning the entirety of the Yes experience in this topic, as it were, but my real question is about the brace? capo? on the back of Chris' bass neck; what is that thing?

I don't think it's a capo - I think it's a tuner.

Just a way out theory here, and it might have already been solved here. I think that's a temporary neck repair. Around this time, I thought the break occurred, which brought the need to use the Tele Bass for awhile, then the purchase of the Mapleglo '70 4001. The original one then got repaired and repainted and came back as the cream colored bass we all know and love. Sound like a valid theory?

That "thing" was used to hold the strings from falling out of the nut. Old Ricks had straight headstocks and lots of them would not hold the strings in the nut, or the strings would rattle in the nut because of little or no headstock angle (rearward). Thats his RM1999 with the contact paper on it, same bass he's playing on the HOB vid at the beginning of this thread, only 36 years earlier!

Ahh, another angle! Hadn't thought of that one. Although I never had the same problem with my '69, '70 , '74 or '78, all with the straight stocks.

Around the time of 90125 the bass had string trees screwed into the headstock for the same purpose...It's been reported that Grover Jackson worked on the Bass doing extensive neck-headstock-fingerboard work to fix a previous repair. Recent photos indicate that the bass now has rearward angle to the headstock, most likely done at the same time the neck work was done.

That bass has had a LOT of repair work done to it over the years.

I'm with Wes- seems to me that in most recent videos, I swear that the headstock is angled back (like a modern bass), yet the other details on the his instrumen seem to indicate it to be the original RM RIC. Am I nuts? Gee, I wish RIC had some detail photos of this bass for our enquiring minds.

Which goes to show ya. Everybody (collectors) freaks about mods yet, Macca's RM was heavily sanded and modded and eventually ended up with a different pickup, Squire at one time had it covered in wall paper; had the headstock broke off and the whole thing redone several times, Geddy used Leo Quan bridges. Meanwhile these three are held up as the Grail of Ricdom. I say do what you want within reason to make it your own.
