Mine is a '79. The Badass was added in late '80 to address an intonation problem. I have the original tailpiece and will reinstall it someday.

WOW, Ginge! Camera quips aside, that is some gorgeous neck grain.

Again with the Rickenbacker tradition of inconsistency, I notice that Ginger's & Ted's have different bridges.

Ginger: That one in Austria is not original. It was apparently made from a fretted one.

Question is, how much would a clean one like the maple birdseye that Mike Parks had when I bought my Squire sell for today?

$10K $15K?

Only $3,395 just a few years ago...

Kick your self AGAIN people!!!!

LOL.

Well Ray, Ted or Dave or Ginger could post their 4002 on Ebay with a reserve of a million dollars, start the bidding at $500 and see how high the bids climb... I think it would break the $20,000 mark. (MY bet if someone starts a pool.)

So... $3,395 might have been a good price back then?

LOL!

Point is, I read lots of carping about the current price escalation of the collectable and classic Rics.

If you go back to May / June 2001, the internet was a lot slower and harder to find things on. Now that many have cable and DSL speed, and things like ebay have come to life, the competition for the great Rickies has gone through the roof.

If you think that 4003 Shadow is going to be any cheaper next year, forget about it. When you see your dream for sale, buy it if you can stretch to afford it. Rickenbackers will never be cheaper tomorrow than they are today. Great for those that already gots, bad for sudden GAS attacks!

Cheers!

Maybe if RIC releases what they have it may lower the price on the used ones. That makes economic sense. It helps control inflation.

Seriously Alan, did you really see 4002s in the factory?

Seriously?

No.

But there were some suspicious looking items in the cage near the break area...

Hmmm... sounds like we, as a forum, should see these pictures and disseminate the evidence in hopes of drawing a reasonable hypothesis.

What say ye, good people?
