Staying on the Gibson finish theme; can a satin finish USA Gibson be buffed out to gloss with Scratch X? I've buffed out a satin finish Martin with great results but don't know about the Gibson.

This can be done; it can be done with Scratch-X, but get ready to build your arm muscles! It can be done on a buffing wheel in less than an hour, but Scratch-X is a very gentle abrasive, and it will take time and lots of rubbing...

Try some fine polishing compound first, then follow up with the Scratch-X.

Gibson's finish is Nitrocellulose, with a plasticiser mixed in to makes it harder and more durable, don't know if that helps anyone diagnose the problem at all,

Paul, what brand of polishing compound do you suggest?
