Like I said in another post:
"All Rick related purchases are exempt from normal reasoning".
What I do is show the loving wife a picture of said object (guitar, tuners, bridge, widget, etc.) & say: "Look, it's a Rickenbacker", or: "I really need one of these because...(fabricate back story here)"
She'll listen for a bit, then say "Okay, okay, but no more buying stuff this month".
Your reply: "Sure, no problem, that's the last bit I need to...(fill in back story here)."
Works like a charm (until the credit card company puts a stop to the charade)!

I forgot to add: you have to give her the same leeway when she wants silly (to you) stuff.

i must be blessed, my wife (of 22 years) says out of all the basses i've played over the years,my 4003 jg has always been her fav. and recently she helped me try out a used ampeg amp at the local pawn shop. it's now in lay-a-way and will be mine in about two months.

She's a keeper!
Maybe Rick players are just as discriminating when selecting mates!

Years ago we had a customer come into the store and put a down payment on a Les Paul.. he came in faithfully each week and paid a small bit.
After the guitar was paid off he brought in an envelope addressed to himself and an official looking letter that read:
"Congratulations, you are the winner of our grand prize.. A brand new Les Paul!... please come in and pick it up at your convenience etc" and then mailed it home
The next day his wife received the letter and was so excited that she called him at work, picked him up, and drove him to the store, she was all smiles when they entered and they happily took the LP home!

Just stumbled on this totally at random, doing a search for something else all together. It made me raff and I had to bump it.
