Okay, here we go: I went to check out the 4008, or should I say the 4003s/8, a few hours ago. It is gorgeous and it is dead mint. Fireglo finish, serial number 99 27908, pots date code 13th week of '99. Bottom of control cavity reads "J.V. 08/3". The bass had no strings on it though. It is on display at a friend's instrument store here in Lisbon. I don't know the asking price yet. Original HSC included. I hasten to add that a forum member has expressed an interest in the bass, so he's first in line so to speak. Sorry, but no pictures.

no strings?
hmmmmmmmmmm, possible neck issues-or just difficult-to-find strings...

Well, guys, the local gentleman who is selling the 1999 4003s/8 is asking 1,900 euros for it. Kinda steep if you ask me. I believe that figure translates to US$ 2,100+.

Mine cost £1595 new when I bought it; yes, pounds, not dollars. Sold it for £1200....

It's obvious: the person is selling it with no strings attached!
