No offense, but I have never understood the rationale behind using a felt pick for bass. When I use a pick, it's for pick attack. I love good pick attack. A felt pick just doesn't provide that. When I want a softer sound, I just use my fingers.

I tried felt picks way back when I first started, I asked a guitar player what kind of picks I should use and he said that bass players used felt picks, I bought one and didn't really like it. I should add this was for my first $20.00 single pickup Howard bass that I bought from a friends brother and took about 6 months to pay off! it had a neck like a club. I was 14 and the year was 1967.

I like the Fender mini pick (extra heavy). It allows you to feel a bit more of the string when you're picking.

I am using exclusively metal picks. It gives a very bright and punchy Tone.
