Just got back from PA. The Foxtrot show was awesome, of course. Spent the weekend with Dave P and his lovely wife Lisa, who are excellent hosts. I got to see leaves changing color (there are apparently these things called SEASONS) and farm country, where we got some fresh milk. Saw some quaint little villages, and historic stuff in Philly. I ate the best cheesesteak I've ever had. Met some really nice folks at Dave's party, and even jammed some old Genesis tunes (Squonk, Carpet Crawlers, I Know What I Like) with his drummer Emil (sp?) who totally rocked and dug Genesis too. Went to Pumpkin Fest and saw some really cool carved pumpkins at the tile factory where the event is held, and saw an old mansion too. Despite the cold, it was truly unforgettable. I can't believe we did all that in a day and a half! Thanks Dave!

I may go see TMB November 4th.

I always wondered about the whole "Colony of Slippermen" bit . . . do they reenact Dr. Dyper's, um, operation on Rael and the whole Raven with the yellow tube bit?

They use the original slides !!

Yep, original slides, or maybe copies made from the originals, actually. The Slipperman bit starts with Rael inside an orb of some sort, then emerges with the costume covered with lumps. It is connected to an air tube which inflates and deflates an area of the costume it would be inappropriate to discuss on this forum. I've never tried, but I'll bet if you google-images for "Slipperman costume" you'll find it.

Dave, you should play Watcher at a wedding. And Supper's Ready.

J and Dave, I am really bummed that I couldn't make it down there. In the end, the only thing stopping me was transportation. My '92 Volvo can barely make it around this Island and is really prone to breaking down only when i'm out of state with it.

I just got back from seeing TMB. As great as it was to see these guys do this great music, I guess I am a bit jaded after seeing the real Genesis do this stuff many times. Don't get me wrong, they were great, I just couldn't get past a lefty "Rutherford"! The lefty doubleneck has some glaring mistakes to it. You would think that all the details would be correct given that this was custom built. The 12 string had hi-gains, not toasters, the bass bridge pickup had the cover removed and the neck pickup was in the 1" position, neither neck had full width inlays, the knob type and placement were wrong on both pickguards, the headstocks were upside down, I don't think the bass keys were wavy Grovers, basically there were too many issues with it. It did sound incredible, however!

The Rutherford character (I considered this theatre) also played a lefty 360/12C63 or V64, not sure which.

If you have never seen the Gabriel era Genesis, by all means go see them, you won't be disappointed. For those who have, enjoy the show for what it is, a nice reasonably accurate facsimile. Maybe it would have seemed more authentic if I had smelled more of that special sweet smell you don't find too often these days at concerts.
