Really nice and varied collection - a little bit of everything. I've seen that one with the flames on it before, now where was that.... sometime in late summer....

You need to work on getting a wider selection of listening music though!! :D

I like that! Impressive collection indeed. Speaking of 8 stringers, a local guy is selling a dead mint '99 Fireglo 4003s/8 with OHSC.

Erik, your Fireglo Laredo has a twin here in Cedarburg, Wisc. Love the fireglo with the maple fretboard. Mine, though, has the Rath VVT mod and I have it strung BEAD. I also swapped the TRC for a standard white one. I really should use it more.

Appears im not the only one wanting the 8 string lol. It really is beautiful. I just realized that one 4004 is a 5 string. Is it Jeff's work? Seems like every 5string we see on here is his handy work Image.

Okay so what are the ones with the different heatstocks? Iv seen you guys have them and what not, but no clue what they are. Is that the whole 2000 series thing?

Paul I dig FG. Thats nice.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

The blue flame 4001 is from 1975, born 1 month after I was and it's my favorite. My favorite gigging basses are the white 2030 and the Blueboy.

I love the 4004cii5. I wanted one ever since I played Joey's last year. In my opinion, it has the best neck profile of any bass I've ever played. The volume drop-off on the B & G isn't that bad. I think a compressor and digging into those strings a little harder will make the issue unnoticable. I plan on stringing it D E A D G, since my band has a few tunes in drop D and I really don't have a need for the B, C, or C#, unless I start playing metal again.

The 8 string used to belong to Dave and it plays almost as good as a regular 4 string. I've been using it lately in place of a chorus pedal and a 4 string.

The ones with the different headstocks are as follows: Jetglo, Fireglo, & White are 2030s. The Midnight Blue one with gold hardware is a 2050 (different wiring than the 2030 and has a double-bound body). The Mapleglo is a 3001 and heavy as hell.

Erik

I believe I spy a fretless on the jetglo pic. I have a ~77 burgundy 4001FL that looks real similar-and I don't see many fretless Rics around!

I butchered an old Univox into an 8 string. It was a lot of fun in the fusion band around 1983!

Erik,

Good to see that the Cii/5 found a good home. I was the original owner and traded it to Brian Crisman for a Jetglo Laredo that Jeff Rath modded to a 5 string. Please update on all the things you do to manage around the volume issue.

Regards,
Paul

I don't think Erik will be giving up the Cii/5 any time soon. I met up with him last weekend and he had it with him. A very sweet looking bass. Too bad neither of us had an amp.
