Barry try getting your hands on a JS2 then. They're on eBay all the time. Just get one that hasn't been totally mucked with.

I've had 2 Kubicki Ex-factor basses. One of the best sounding and playing basses available.

There is a JS II on ebay . It has EMGs . A couple of Darkstars would fix it . Need more $$$. Dont know about the Kubikis . What ever bass I end up with must be " old school tone " capable .

That 1975 one has been gutted - you'll need a new wiring harness as well as pickups if you want it to be "old school" capable, as you say. It's grossly overpriced considering the mods.
Check gbase.com

Rumbush. Found one on gbase . Nice cherry , d'armond pickups I think . Approx 1973 . $999.00 . Danes FG 3000 is in the lead . What a great decision I have to make

This is the best kind of dilemma.
I think I saw that one - that's the one with the switched-out tuners, correct? I'd try and get the guy down a couple hundred semoleans. For a grand, that thing should be completely original with OHSC.
Good luck!! Please post some pics when you get your new bass

Yes . That's it . Switched tuners and carved initials in the back of the headstock . Found 2 Gretsch Broadkasters $1199 and $1229 . Good reviews on those at Harmony Central.

I love my '78 Fender Musicmaster and use it a lot. But it ain't a Ric.
Speaking of Rics, wouldn't the simplest solution be to detune your 4003 by 1½ steps and capo at the 3rd fret? You'd probably need heavier gauge strings to keep string tension.

"Disoriented I am???" Has he been kidnapped by Yoda?

Captured he was, yes, by Yoda!

A cheap and fun alternative is an Epiphone Flying V bass. I own one, it's 30.5 inch scale, has good intonation and tone. A light player, and surely an eyecatcher......
