Stan: Isn't that the infamous location of the infamous Zappa 'mud shark incident'?

Wow, very interesting Stan. I'd always imagined that it was mass pandemonium over here on that day, but it's interesting to think that no one really knew what had happened. Today the people at the end of the cue would have been playing the assassination footage on iPods before Kennedy made it to the hospital.

I know the Beatles played that night in the UK (obviously, with an album coming out). I wonder if they or Brian was aware.

We found out not shortly afterwards, but for a while there it was just mass hysteria. Folks knew something had gone wrong, they just didn't know what.

I think in Spitz's book they talked about when the Beatles learned of JFK's death. They were told either the same night or the following day. I can't recall, unless I looked it up.

Odd fact: after the assassination, The Kennedy death limo was fitted with a hardtop, re -upholstered and bullet proofed; then Pres. Johnson then used it during his presidency. Yuck.

What is funny about the bubbletop is that all the discussion after the assassination as to whether it should have been on or not. It didn't matter. The damn thing wasn't bullet proof.

The Beatles stayed at the SF Hilton in 64. When I worked there I went through all the old records looking for some sort of documentation, but nothing found. An interesting side story is that a woman was pistol whipped and robbed right in the middle of the crowd, but no one heard her screams for HELP over the screams for the Beatles. Beatlemania at it's best.

When I was standing there that day, I don't think I glanced once at the Depository. I could have easily seen it from where I was standing, and the sixth floor. The area hasn't changed much since then, but for the trees, closest to the Depository, are much taller now. That's about the only difference.
