Well I guess it is a small world (chorus of "it's a small world after all "), it's nice to have these little connections being made...It's kinda cold and snowy today so I won't take the 4003 down to the fish for a picture...but I will take it to practice at 6pm. I purchased my very first great guitar (82 jg 4001) in Winnipeg at l&M when I was 17.

Well, this isn't a "bass" so I don't know if it's appropriate for this section. It is from a glacially dug lake (Erie) though!

What color would you call that?

Putting on my geography-geek hat for a moment...
Erie is the shallowest of the Great Lakes and as a result recycles it's volume of water much faster than the other lakes. As bad as Erie was in the 60-70's, it in pretty good shape now.

The water turns over about once every 5 years where it takes closer to 25 years for lake Michigan to turn over. It takes nearly 100 for Superior to turn over. Erie is only about 330 feet at the deepest sounding and about 35 feet on average. Superior is something like 1200 feet deep at the maximum and Michigan is about 930 max depth.

There are actually small sand islands out in Lake Erie where the water is shallower and the lake is down due to evaporation. The lake is remarkably clean and swimable, but it does have a slight metalic smell compared to Lake Michigan. I still swim in it. I was just funnin' about the edible fish. Heck, it used to be dead, about the time the Cleveland river burned.

Everyone thinks the water quality is terrible today, but I remember back in the 70s Lake Michigan being so cloudy it was hard to see the bottom, whereas it is now very clear (the invasive zebra mussels are a big credit for that - great filters) and the Kalamazoo river here in our city downriver of the paper plants was white like milk. Today it flows clear but there are a lot of PCBs in the sediments.

I was refering to the "arms" thing. For some reason I crack up every time I look at it.
Lake Erie is relatively clean now, and the fishing is great.

On the sports note: Erie is a funny place. We're right in the middle of Cleveland - Pittsburgh - and Buffalo.
I'm a Steeler fan, but I like the Indians.

Yeah, my daughter says Erie is split in all its pro sports because of being between those places.
