And one of the best guitar solos ever...not the performance so much as the melody. A Classic.
Here is where I hide my music:

Track for track i would go with Tug of War, excluding Ebony and ivory. Followed by Band on the Run. I like Flaming Pie too. I usually find something I enjoy in each of his albums. I've heard a few folks knocking Driving Rain but I like most of the album.

It's funny how McCartney and Ram are now considered pretty good albums.

For a, essentially, 'homemade' LP, McCartney's first album is about the only one I like.

"Ram"'s great. I might be alone on this one, but I loved "Run Devil Run". Sounded like some rediscovery of SOMETHING going on there. "Band on The Run" holds up...but i think barely. For me, '1985' saves that album from lame *** status. "Back to The Egg" Rocks, "Speed of Sound" has some great tunes, "Venus and Mars" is OK. I guess "Tug Of War" if just for 'Wanderlust and 'Here Today' although that an album does not make.

Even "Flaming Pie" has it's share of misses, but it's probably his most consistent album since the 70's.

I like McCartney and Ram the best. I wish the first Wings lineup had last longer - they could have done far better than Wild Life or Red Rose Speedway, off-kilter though they may be.

London Town is way too long, but it's my favorite Wings album.

I'm always interested in his truly 'solo' records like McCartney, McCartney II and Chaos and Creation - I wish he'd do more of that kind of thing. In fact Tug of War and Chaos are my favorite post-Wings albums.

You've likely seen them all before, but there is a nice collection of early Beatle pix at:
