I liken the horseshoe to the chopstick: A much better tool for the job has been invented, so I use it. It doesn't matter to me how I look as I use it, what matters is that it works better.

I tape chopsticks to my fingers and play Tony Levin style. The shoes get in the way and make a nasty metallic clanky sound when I hit them with the chopsticks 
Besides, you ought to see the looks you get when you go to China, have long blonde hair and eat proficiently with chopsticks...
