Interesting, Karl. I thinking there was one on ebay at one time too, maybe that was your old guitar....I think there's more than a coincidence with these plugged routs.
I had a speeding ticket I had to pay back in early 1986. I sold the guitar to the local town guitar repairman in Baytown, TX to pay the ticket off. The repairman said he always wanted a RIC 12. He then took the toasters apart, removed the insides and installed some hot single coils inside them.
It gets worse.......
You know how everyone has one of those "horror stories"? I had removed the bakelite plugs and installed 6 more Klusons. I never finished the guitar and sold it "as is". After a new 12 string nut was made, the repairman realized the neck was going to need a serious adjustment. Not knowing anything about vintage RIC necks (no, it wasn't me!) he torked the rods causing the neck to split in half!
The last time I saw the guitar was at Niel Sargent's guitar repair shop in Houston, TX back in 1992. The guitar was stripped with the just the body and what was left of the neck.
Uuuggghhhh!!!
