Ed Romans 12 string ultra bridge

I that it this picture of the pick guard was taken before the neck work?

I tried the "ultra-tone" bridge, and it sounds awlful to my ears.

I took it off right away and went back to the ric 12 saddle bridge.

The only advantage is that the "ultra tone" bridge works like a gibson style bridge in that you don't need to help the saddles move with needle nose plyers (pliers?). You just turn the screw and the saddles move without the screws coming undone from the bridge.

But it sounds really bad, I was shocked at what it did to the tone. Plus it looks wrong on the guitar, it's kinda bulky.

Currently my 12 string is with the amazing Paul W for some work so I am really excited!

Yep, that's the old, six-saddle bridge, so it was before I sent it out for work.

I got it today and I am all excited to see how the new bridge is. The box is perfect, the case is perfect. Open the case and look it over to see a chip and compression dent rear the jacks. Bummer. Waiting for a call from Ed.

Gee that's tragic news about the guitar Eric, seems some heavy handed git has created this grief. I hope you get a happy outcome. It's bad enough when you get a little careless and do these things yourself, but when it's done for you by someone else it's MOST upsetting. Let's know how you get on.

They said they would take it back for a full refund or give me 10% off or exchange it for another one when they get it in. They couldnt tell me how it happened. I took the 10%. I think I can use some gloss model paint just to touch up the tiny piece of exposed wood. I really like the size and sound but the nut spacing is not what I was expecting. It narrower than my 96 360/12. Seams like the neck is narrower too.

Forget nut changing time I am sending the guitar back. The neck is completely different form my other ric's. It narrower and fatter from back to front. Reminds me of 70's strat necks. Just really dont like it. Now a I know I dont want to change the nut of my 350/12. I wounder if they changed the neck since my 1996 360/12 and my 1998 360/6?

Odd. The necks on these are CNC-shaped and hand-sanded. But they will be different from a 360 in some ways. Did you check these dimensions with a caliper or is this entirely subjective?

With all due respect, it seems like you are not giving this guitar much of a chance. It seems like you had some preconceptions, and if this guitar does not conform, back it goes.

Also, I'm at a loss when you jump to a 350/12 in your comments, which you haven't mentioned before...if the 620/12 doesn't meet your expectations, you won't change the nut on the 350? I don't get the connection, sorry.

Unsolicited advice, to go along with all the advice that you have asked for: Give the guitar a chance! At least play it for a few days before shipping it back.

Played this weekend. Just too narrow and uncomfortable a neck. This guitar is not black more like dark grey and the R tail piece was not deburred before being chromed. There will always be a chip in the finish from Ed Roman's.

There is one on ebay now. I will be selling the Ric 12 saddle bridge that came with the 620/12.
