Have fun with it Paul, and if I can help you out, just let me know. I guess I missed out by like 3 hours, Doh! Oh well, I don't really have any room for it at the moment anyway with all my projects.

Thanks, Greg. I'll be learning a bit more about these, too.

Kevin: I, too am a fan of the "square" Fenders.

I'm still looking for my old chocolate-brown barrel-knob '61 Pro (1-15" JBL). I was the second owner and should never have sold it. Someday I'll get one back...

Correction: I now recall that the Super was 45 watts. My buddy Mike had a '74 silver face that sounded great with any guitar. He also had a '64 blackface Vibrolux that was perfect for a Strat, Tele, or Jag, but couldn't take his '69 Les Paul Gold Top. Nowhere near loud enough for a rock & roll/surf stage amp, but BEAUTIFUL to record with.

Perhaps you could post some short (or long if you like) sound clips of the Showman.
I'm sure some of us would be very interested in hearing it.

I had a 67 Dual Showman and cab with D-130's years ago, played bass with it and it sounded pretty good, was one of the tall cabs also. 85 watts 4 6L6's. Was the last year of the Blackfaced Showman's and Bassmans I believe. Silverface started in 68.
Supers are great sounding amps.

Keep in mind this head I have needs work. I do recall back in the early '80s when it work fine but I don't think my friend has used it since that time. There are a couple of minor things that are visible like a missing cap pan, one missing knob, and fuse holder cap. I have not looked any further than this. I was thinking of restoring it, but my funds need to be saved for more important things like my upcoming 660DCM and new digital camera.

Not to fear, Jeff, it will be 100% gone over, both electronically and cosmetically.
