Everything that happened with the 5-string version took place before I joined this forum, so although I know there was some discussion on the subject, I don't know how it was left. Does anyone know if the five string will definitely reappear?

I'm kind of holding off for a 5-string Ric, partly because I am finding that on the odd occasion that I'm asked to 'help out' on something (sometimes with the incentive of some income), a 5-string is often required and it means I can't do it. I'm not sure whether to hang on, or to look for something else...

I'm interested in a 4004Cii/5 because 90% of my playing is on a fiver. I've gotten too used to it and playing a four-stringer is foreign to me.

RIC doesn't seem too motivated to restart production on the Cii/5 which is too bad. They could sell out multiple runs if they chose to produce them. In the meantime, a Jeff Rath 4-2-5 is the next best thing.......

Maybe they’ll surprise us at NAMM!

I find the spacing on 4-2-5 conversions to be a bit tight and inhibiting. Since RIC wont be producing a 4004cii5 for awhile,I've purchased a Yamaha RBX775 to get me by while my next project is under way....a six string RIC conversion/mod unlike anything I've done before.

Is it a guitar converted to a short scale bass?

I've yet to nail down all of the details but it will start out as a 4003 that will get the "S" treatment on its binding. It will also get a slightly longer headstock with vintage keys and, like the 4008CS,have jarra headstock wings. I want it to be finger friendly at both ends and have vintage features all around but still be all Rickenbacker. Think of it as a Model 4001S/6

Is it going to be like a Fender VI or a modern 6 string bass, tuned BEADGC?
